Insert a DVD or VHS in DVD/VHS Player and click stop. The DV Converter box needs to be set to AV and 16 bit. (first image)

Open Computer from the start menu and open the User Work Disk (F:). (second image)

In the User Work Disk create and name a folder with your name. (third image)

Open Sony Vegas (Movie Studio) and close the Welcome screen. (first image)

Select Project then Save As. Find your folder and enter a name for your Sony Vegas project. (second image)

Select Project then Capture Video. In the new dialogue box select DV. Then Ok. (first image)

You might get a "No capture folders are available..... Would you like to set up......setting now? Click Yes. The preferences - Disk Management tab will open. Deselect any drive box (C: or F:) and right click below it. Add a folder and locate/select your folder in the F: drive. Select the box and click apply and OK.

Enter the name of your tape (movie) in the Verify Tape Name window. Select Don't capture any clips right now, Click Ok. (second image)

Click the Capture Video button for a starting point. Click the stop button for an end point. Then Done and close the Sony Video Capture window.

Click and drag clip down from Project Media tab to the timeline (Video). The audio will follow and relocate in the Voice. (first image)

To trim the clip position the mouse at the beginning or end of clip. Wait for double sided arrow to appear, then click and push in. (second image)

Or place the indicator line at the place you want to split the clip. You can use the arrow keys to move left or right to be precise. When ready press S to split. Select the unwanted clip and delete.

Place your curser at the end of the clip, but above the Time Ruler. Click and drag to the front of the clip. A yellow band will appear for the length of the clip. You have now created a loop region. (first image)

The program will only render in this loop region. Select Project then Render As. The output format will be Windows Media Video V11 (*wmv) 6mbps HD 720-30p. Enter a name for your clip and browse for your folder. (second image)

Last preview from the new dialogue box or open it from your folder.
